Best of all, you have continuous support through a powerful online support system that you will get along with my coaching. Health or Weight Loss coaching is a process by which the coach helps you by determining what may be blocking your progress and showing you how to make an action plan. The coach works one-on-one with you to help you reach your goals in a way that honors your values. Health or Weight Loss coaching can be conducted over the phone and/or through e-mail.
Health and Weight loss coaching may help when:
- You are looking for ways to enhance your existing healthy habits/lifestyle that could boost your efforts and results to the next level.
- You have tried other products and services to improve your health and still don't feel that you have reached your goals.
- You like a high level of personal attention and feel that "cookie cutter" or "canned approaches" don't work for you.
- You have an area of your lifestyle that you want to change: lose weight, get in shape, lower your cholesterol, control your blood pressure, reduce your stress, etc.
- You keep telling yourself you know what to do, but feel frustrated when you notice that you aren't doing it.
- You find yourself procrastinating on the things you know you should be doing.
- You feel overwhelmed because you realize how much needs to be done but are at a loss as to where to start.
- You need help improving your health in a way that fits conveniently and easily into your busy schedule without taking significant time away from other priorities in your life, and you like using the internet!
- You want to be able to take steps toward improving your lifestyle without having to leave your home or office.
Weight loss coaching will not be appropriate if:
- You are suffering from depression
- You have an eating disorder
- You are dealing with any kind of abuse
(A therapist/counselor is more appropriate for those issues.)
The Difference Between Coaching and Counseling:Coaching addresses the usual concerns of everyday life. It is a relationship-based helping modality that capitalizes on an individual's strengths and assets. Strategies are developed through a collaborative brainstorming process, and formulated into goals and short-term achievable activities. Coaching aims to quickly identify and support practical solutions. The central theme of coaching is that, with support and guidance, individuals can become more proficient at addressing the everyday concerns of life by becoming better observers of themselves, and better problem solvers. It empowers the individual. While coaching may occur face to face, it typically occurs telephonically and/or on-line.
Counseling, in contrast, focuses on issues that more severely interfere with daily life functioning - issues that require thorough and intensive diagnosis and treatment. Counseling typically occurs face to face, and is based on an "expert" model in which the counselor takes primary responsibility for the solutions.
The Coaching Process
A coach will help you define goals that you can get enthusiastic about! The coaching process will honor your values and meet your individualized needs. The process will respect you as a person and refrain from passing judgment. The purpose of coaching is to help you find insights which will have a positive impact on your quality of life. The coaching sessions are completely confidential and are conducted in accordance with the highest ethical standards.
